  4.          Spelling Checker
  5.          ----------------
  6.          Press ^K^L, or select Spell check from the  Block  menu  to  begin
  7.          checking  the  spelling  of  your  document.   If there is a block
  8.          marked, the spell check will cover the marked block only.   If  no
  9.          block is marked, checking will begin at the cursor position.

  11.          If  you  press  any key during a spell check, you will be asked if
  12.          you wish to abort the spelling check.
  13.  
  14.          When GALAXY LITE encounters a word not in its dictionary, you will
  15.          be shown a menu of possible corrective actions:

  17.             Skip once
  18.             ---------
  19.             Continue the spelling check, ignoring the unknown  word  for
  20.             now.
  21.  
  22.             Ignore for this document
  23.             ------------------------
  24.             Continue  the  spelling check, ignoring the unknown word for
  25.             the  rest  of  the spelling check.  Useful for proper names,
  26.             etc.

  28.             List soundalike words
  29.             ---------------------
  30.             Show  a  menu  of possible replacement words for the unknown
  31.             word.  Highlight the correct word and press ENTER to correct
  32.             the misspelled word.
  33.  
  34.             GALAXY LITE uses a technique called soundex to build the list
  35.             of replacement words.  If the misspelled word is phonetically
  36.             close to the correct spelling, GALAXY will almost always
  37.             suggest the correct spelling as the first choice in the list.
  38.             If you have transposed letters GALAXY will sometimes be unable
  39.             to suggest meaningful alternatives.

  41.             When replacing a word in your document, GALAXY LITE will
  42.             attempt to match the capitalization as follows: If the
  43.             misspelled word is all lower or all upper case, the replacement
  44.             word will be all lower or all upper case.  If the misspelled
  45.             word is mixed upper and lower case, the replacement word will
  46.             have its first letter capitalized, and the rest of the word
  47.             will be lower case.

  49.             Edit from keyboard
  50.             ------------------
  51.             You will be prompted to type in the correct spelling.  After
  52.             you have retyped the word, GALAXY LITE will check the spelling
  53.             again.

  55.             Add to dictionary
  56.             -----------------
  57.             If this is a word that will appear often in  your  documents
  58.             (your  company's name, for example), you can add the word to
  59.             your auxiliary dictionary.
  60.  
  61.          GALAXY LITE uses four dictionaries:
  62.  
  63.             An internal list of 500 common words.
  64.  
  65.             GALAUX.DIC:  Your  auxiliary dictionary.  An ASCII file, one
  66.             uppercase word per line, with a leading and trailing  space.
  67.             Created  automatically  when  you choose "Add to dictionary"
  68.             during a spelling check.  This dictionary is held in  memory
  69.             during the spelling check and will not be loaded if there is
  70.             less than 20K of free memory.

  72.             GALRAM.DIC:  An  ASCII file containing approximately 3000 of
  73.             the  most  common  words  in  the  English  language.   This
  74.             dictionary  is held in memory during the spelling check, and
  75.             will not be loaded if there is less than 48K of free memory.
  76.             The  spelling  check  will operate correctly with or without
  77.             the RAM dictionary, but not as quickly.

  79.             GALMAIN.DIC:  The main dictionary file, approximately 45,000
  80.             words (10,000 words in the Evaluation Version) , compressed.

  83.          Mouse support
  84.          -------------
  85.          If you have a mouse installed and have run MOUSE.COM or MOUSE.SYS
  86.          prior to loading GALAXY LITE, you will see a mouse cursor in the
  87.          upper left corner of the screen.

  89.          You  can  enter the pulldown menus by pressing any mouse button on
  90.          either the status line or the top ruler line.
  91.  
  92.          There are two ways to use the mouse in the menu system:
  93.  
  94.             In  the  first  method,  you  "click" (press and release the
  95.             mouse button) on line one or line two of  the  screen.   The
  96.             menubar  appears  on screen, in the same manner it does when
  97.             you press F10. You then can click on any of  the  top  level
  98.             menu items to pull down the submenu.  This will happen as if
  99.             you pressed the first letter of the main menu item.  You can
  100.             then  click  on  a  submenu item to select it.  To leave the
  101.             menu system, just click anywhere outside the displayed menu.

  103.             In the second  method,  rather  than  clicking,  you  "drag"
  104.             (press  the  mouse  button  but  don't release it) the mouse
  105.             cursor to the menu item  you  want.   As  the  mouse  cursor
  106.             passes  over a menu item, the submenu below it automatically
  107.             pulls down.  As you drag the mouse cursor  down  a  submenu,
  108.             the   submenu   choice   under  the  mouse  cursor  will  be
  109.             highlighted.  To select a submenu item,  release  the  mouse
  110.             button when the selection you want is highlighted.  To leave
  111.             the  menu  system,  just  release  the mouse button anywhere
  112.             outside the displayed menu.

  114.          Clicking  anywhere in the text window will move the cursor to that
  115.          position.  You can change from one window  to  another  simply  by
  116.          clicking the mouse in the other window.
  117.  
  118.          In the Defaults menu you can choose whether or not  to  display  a
  119.          scroll  bar on the right hand side of the text window.  The scroll
  120.          bar has an "elevator" which shows your relative  position  in  the
  121.          file.   Dragging  the  elevator  to  a  new position is similar to
  122.          issuing a Go To Line  command.   For  example,  if  you  drag  the
  123.          elevator  to  roughly the middle of the scroll bar while editing a
  124.          1000 line file, the current line will be changed to  approximately
  125.          line 500.

  127.          Clicking  anywhere  between  the up arrow mark and the elevator is
  128.          treated  the  same  as  the Page Up command, and clicking anywhere
  129.          between the elevator and the down arrow mark is the  same  as  the
  130.          Page  Down  command.  Clicking on the up arrow mark or down  arrow
  131.          mark  is  the treated the same as if you pressed the  up  or  down
  132.          arrow  key.   Leave the mouse button down in any of these cases to
  133.          scroll continuously.

  136.          Print options
  137.          -------------
  138.          You can now designate a starting and stopping range of pages to
  139.          print.  Default setting is to start with Page 1 and stop with Page
  140.          1000.  To print a single page, enter the same page number for both
  141.          the start and stop page.  Note: if the top and bottom margin are
  142.          set to zero GALAXY LITE does not keep track of pages, and the
  143.          entire document will print.

  145.          You can specify LPT1, LPT2, or FILE as the  device  to  print  to.
  146.          For  FILE, you will be asked the name of the file to print to.  If
  147.          you name an existing file you will be asked to confirm overwriting
  148.          the file.

  151.          Other changes
  152.          -------------
  153.          Reformat and word wrap now compensate  for  any  print  formatting
  154.          characters in the line.
  155.  
  156.          Home key positions cursor at Left margin, not column 1.
  157.  
  158.          Alt-F3 will convert a WordStar file to ASCII.  Although GALAXY
  159.          LITE can read, edit, and save a WordStar file with no problems,
  160.          the search and spell check routines only work on ASCII files.

  162.          Corrected problem finding GALITE.INI and GLITE.MSG support files
  163.          when a default data directory was set.
